Announcement - Overdose Awareness Day
This work is personal. It’s urgent. And it’s not just about “drugs”—it’s about dignity, systemic neglect, and lives that were designed to be lived.
Today is Overdose Awareness Day and despite unforeseen circumstances, we’re still going to honor the lives living and those we’re grieving with a moment of silence at 3:17pm. We will also, and encourage you to, do (y)our best to create a moment of (healthy) celebration today for our loved ones.
This work is personal. It’s urgent. It’s about preserving dignity, countering systemic neglect, and protecting lives that are divinely designed to be lived.
📣 Important Update: August Sober Social is Postponed
Due to an unforeseen venue issue, we are postponing today’s UPlifted Wellness Pop Up (Aug 31).
We invite you to still honor Overdose Awareness Day by engaging in harm reduction in your own way—wherever you are.
🕯️ Take time today to:
Light a candle in remembrance of someone you know who is no longer with us in the physical realm due to drug overdose or toxicity (celebrities/people of note count)
Donate to, learn more about, or share a harm reduction org in your area
Commit to learning more about drug toxicity, drug poisoning, and the policies affecting our communities
Check in with someone you love
At 3:17pm we invite our fellow Hoosiers to uplift the LOT here in Indianapolis, across Indiana, the Midwest, and beyond. You can support Mercy’s programs directly or get involved with local partners doing the work.
We’ll see you on Sunday, September 14 as we kick off Recovery Month in full force. Stay safe. Stay grounded. Stay alive. 🖤
In the meantime, check out these upcoming events shared throughout our collective + community:
